Rev. Dr. Karen Simmons-Palmer is a native of Johns Island, South Carolina. She is the eldest of five children born to Mary L. Simmons and the Late Arthur L. Simmons. After high school, she joined the United States Army. She served her country with great joy, giving them 20 years of honorable service and saying farewell. She believed in her heart that God was calling her into ministry, but it wasn’t until her grandmother the Late Anna Brown brought clarity that the Lord truly was calling her into her purpose.
Dr. Simmons-Palmer survived many years of abuse and after escaping that monster called Domestic Violence, she founded KAS Families in Crisis Ministry. Things began to grow and blossom. She found herself being an ordained Evangelist operating in a Pastor’s calling. Realizing, she had to do something, so she sought the higher education department. She possesses an Associate in Human Services along with being certified as a HSBCP (Human Services Board-Certified Practitioner), Bachelor’s in Psychology, Master’s in Social Work, Doctorate in Theology and a Certificate in Addiction and Substance Abuse. She is the Founder/Pastor of New Birth Christian Ministry and the Assistant Pastor of God is Moving Ministry. Enjoy helping people, she is serving on the Charleston County Constituent School Board District #9 for nearly 7 years. She is an entrepreneur with her daughters. God truly has been good to Dr. Simmons-Palmer.
Dr. Simmons-Palmer is the wife of Pastor Vincent A. Palmer. The Pastor of Mt. Victory Baptist Church. They have 3 daughters and 2 sons (the Late DaShawn-C’Mo), 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
